Fit 2 Play Assessments

With winter sports winding down and spring/summer on the horizon this is a great time of year to address any issues that might be troubling your young athlete. K-TOWN Kids offers a unique FULL BODY musculoskeletal assessment “Fit 2 Play”. This assessment is completed by a registered physiotherapist who will look at your child’s alignment, range of motion, strength and movement patterns. This will identify any areas of tightness or weakness which could over time be contributing to repetitive strain injuries.
Why is this assessment unique?
Our physiotherapists have additional training and knowledge in
child development and have a heightened awareness of common pediatric conditions to watch for. Our young athletes are not just ‘little adults’, their bones are still developing. If there is irregular or imbalanced tension or pressure to a particular area of the body this could lead to skeletal changes. At the end of the Fit 2 Play assessment your child will be given a home program to address any range of motion restrictions, build strength in areas of weakness and correct faulty body mechanics. This may also reduce risk of repetitive strain injuries or reduce risk of common pediatric conditions such as jumpers knee or severs disease. They will also assess your child’s core. If a young athlete can build a solid core they will have a better foundation to protect their body as they are doing more advanced sports skills and more intense sport training.
Motivation an issue with home programming?
K-Town Kids offers one on one or group follow up sessions with our Registered Kinesiologist/Physiotherapy Assistant. She will provide feedback for exercise technique and help build a positive habit of doing exercise regularly. Activities done during these sessions have all been prescribed by the physiotherapist based on your child’s assessment so can be submitted to private insurance as physiotherapy.
